November 2024

Dear Circular Economy Community,

Welcome to colourful autumn, and a turbulent start into November. This and next week, all eyes and ears are on the confirmation hearings for the commissioners-designate – and two key new commissioners highly relevant for circular economy are currently in process of appointment: Jessica Roswell, the proposed Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, and Wopke Hoekstra, the proposed Commissioner for Climate, Net-Zero and Clean Growth. All being well, the new Commission should be in place by 1 December.

In terms of the ECESP’s activities, we are organising three #EUCircularTalks this month: Circular approaches to affordable housing: reshaping the future on the 14th, Waste Framework Directive revision: Enhancing textiles EPR schemes through inclusive governance on the 19th and Circular Bioeconomy Transformation Methodologies on the 21st. There’s more information about them further down, so do sign up!
