2025 is a circular year, and the ECESP has plenty in store for you!

We bring you updates on the Stakeholder Dialogue on 10 April, which will feed into the annual conference to take place during EU Green Week in June. You can also find the link to apply to host an EU Green Week 2025 partner event where you can raise awareness about the importance of the circular economy (deadline 21 March). The same deadline applies for registering to join DG INTPA’s initiative to support the development of circular economy value chains in Latin America and the Caribbean on 1 April, focusing on Mexico and Guatemala.

Registration for the Stakeholder dialogue is open now!

We’re pleased to announce that the provisional programme for our Circular Economy Stakeholder Dialogue on 10 April has now been published. We’ve divided the day into three main parts, starting with a high-level session covering the European Commission’s priorities for the 2024-2029 mandate and the role of the circular economy. In this session, we will also discuss the importance of stakeholder dialogue and the role of civil society. 

Our opening will be followed by dynamic sessions where we want to hear from you! In the morning, share your thoughts on the Clean Industrial Deal, and in the afternoon, join one of the four breakout sessions. The first two will focus on the Bioeconomy Strategy, and the second two on the Circular Economy Act.  

This event will be in person, although you can opt to follow it via webstreaming and make comments via Slido.

Call for cities and regions: Join a CCRI community of practice

The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) communities of practice are dynamic working groups that bring together practitioners from a select number of European cities and regions to collaborate on key circular economy topics. Now open for applications: Urban planning for the circular economy, Municipal waste companies for circular cities, Supporting local circular businesses and Cutting consumption-based emissions through the circular economy! 

International Seminar on Biotechnology Applied to the Plastics Sector: obstacles and opportunities of bioplastics

Over a hundred international specialists in biotechnology and sustainability attended this seminar on 5-6 March. They discussed innovations in the field of biotechnology applied to the plastics sector and looked at the challenges ahead and the ways in which it contributes to society and the economy.

Apply now to host an EU Green Week 2025 partner event!

Applications will be open until 21 March for hosting EU Green Week 2025 partner events! In June, partner events, organised by entities from the private and public sector, will take place across Europe and beyond to raise awareness about the importance of the circular economy.

Circular bioeconomy: bioplastics from spent brewers’ grain

The ECESP website has a good selection of circular bioeconomy-themed content and this series will shine a spotlight on it. This particular item looks at bioplastics from spent brewers’ grain.

How to build circular economy value chains in Latin America and the Caribbean?

As part of the EU-LAC Global Gateway Investment Agenda (GGIA), the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) is working on an investment-oriented, multi-partner initiative to support the development of circular economy value chains in Latin America and the Caribbean. This meeting will look at Mexico and Guatemala.

UNLOCK final conference: Circular bioeconomy & EU policy innovation in agriculture

The UNLOCK project, funded by the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking, is all about feathers. The project is now coming to an end and its final conference on 26 March will show what it has achieved. There will be sessions on UNLOCK, along with the European vision for the circular economy in the agri-food sector, the involvement of primary producers in circular bio-based innovations and bioeconomy, and EU projects in the Basque Country.

30 years of tyre recycling: Innovations to build the future

This year’s conference on 25-27 March will look back over the last three decades, considering the materials used and developments in the tyre recycling industry.

This EUCT on 26 March will provide a platform for researchers and policymakers who have contributed to significant publications over the past year to present their insights and findings. It will also introduce a comprehensive reading guide that summarises these and other key publications, helping participants navigate the wealth of information available on the circular built environment.

ONE health, ONE planet! How can EMAS help healthcare centres improve humans and planet's health?
